Casa Santa Magdalena. Luis Laplace, Menorca.
Architectural and interior photography by Daniel Schäfer Studio documenting Casa Santa Magdalena, the private residence of architect Luis Laplace and Christophe Comoy on the Mediterranean island of Menorca, Spain.
Originally a nineteenth-century rural farmhouse used for cheese production, the property was restored by Laplace with a deep respect for the island’s vernacular architecture, traditional craftsmanship and surrounding landscape.
The renovation preserves the character of the original building, from its irregular stone columns and whitewashed surfaces to the relationship between shaded outdoor spaces and the interior. Working with local artisans, Laplace brought traditional building techniques into dialogue with a contemporary approach to living.
Inside, an eclectic collection of furniture, artworks and objects brings together different periods, materials and cultural influences. Contemporary design coexists with handcrafted elements and carefully selected pieces, reflecting Laplace’s distinctive relationship with art, architecture and the Mediterranean way of life.
Photographed by Daniel Schäfer Studio, with styling by Erika Gómez, the series explores the interplay of architecture, interiors, art and landscape, capturing the materiality, natural light and quiet atmosphere of this private residence.
The project has received extensive international editorial coverage, including features in AD España, AD Germany, AD France, AD Italia, Yatzer, est living, D+A Magazine, Living Argentina and Cœur, among other publications.
