DANIEL SCHÄFER
Photography & Visual Direction.

Daniel Schäfer’s relationship with the image was shaped through an early immersion in photography. First through his grandfather, an avid amateur photographer whose intuitive way of seeing left a lasting imprint on his visual identity; years later through his work as a model with photographers such as Bruce Weber, Steven Meisel, David Bailey, Karl Lagerfeld, and Tyen, whose aesthetic refinement deeply influenced his understanding of life and photography.

His transition from model to photographer took shape under the name Framecatcher, through which he developed an early practice moving between travel, portraiture, spaces, and product. But it was his encounter with Erika Gómez that marked a decisive shift, firmly positioning his work within architecture, interiors, and art, and together giving rise to the foundation of Daniel Schäfer Photography.

After more than twenty years devoted to photography and image-making, his work nowadays is defined by a strong pictorial quality rooted in the relationship between light, composition, texture, and atmosphere. His images are constructed with a painterly sensibility: space is composed, surfaces acquire material presence, and light becomes a structural element. Moving between technical precision and intuitive observation, his photographic language seeks to capture what is felt.

Within the studio, Daniel shapes the photographic identity of the studio through the act of image-making itself: observing, composing, and constructing through light. His role lies in creating images that sustain presence, tension, and clarity over time, defining how each project is seen, felt, and visually experienced.

“I’m deeply inspired by travel. Finding beauty in the moment is a constant in my work, while exploring the relationship between light and shadow, spontaneity and construction, observation and composition as a way of transforming images into visual experiences.”
