Casa Axis is the home, studio and creative space of contemporary artist Felipe Pantone in Valencia. Conceived as a place for experimentation, exchange and artistic production, it brings together art, architecture and design within an environment that continuously evolves through Pantone’s practice and the artists invited to work there.

Daniel Schäfer took part in the Casa Axis artist residency, living and working within the space and experiencing first-hand the relationship between Pantone’s artistic practice, the architecture and the surrounding environment. The residency also marked the beginning of a personal relationship between Daniel and Felipe, giving this body of work a significance that extends beyond the photographs themselves.

The resulting photographic series explores Casa Axis through its architecture, interiors, artworks, materials and light, reflecting the dialogue between contemporary art and the environment in which it is created. For Daniel Schäfer Studio, the project became a visual exploration of how architecture and artistic practice can shape one another and generate new ways of seeing.
