HOYER-KAST. MUNICH RESIDENCE.

The Munich residence of Jan Hoyer and Tom Hoyer-Kast, founders of Hoyer & Kast, reflects their distinctive approach to interiors, bringing together historical architecture, antique furniture, expressive colours and richly layered textiles.

Located in a building dating from 1913, the apartment reveals an unexpected architectural vocabulary of Gothic, Romanesque and Moorish influences. Ribbed vaults, stained-glass windows and unusual proportions provide the setting for an eclectic collection of furniture, objects and decorative pieces gathered over time.

Colour and textiles play a central role throughout the interiors. Deep shades by Little Greene create atmospheric spaces, while fabrics by Osborne & Little, Edmond Petit and Pierre Frey introduce contrasting textures and patterns. Designs by House of Hackney and lighting by Tom Dixon coexist with Victorian armchairs, Biedermeier furniture and pieces from the 1930s.

Rather than pursuing a fixed decorative scheme, the residence embraces transformation, reuse and the personal histories of objects. The result is a domestic environment in which architectural heritage and contemporary interior design meet through an individual approach to collecting and inhabitation.

Photographed by Daniel Schäfer, with styling by Erika Gómez and Thomas Skroch, the editorial series was published in AD Germany. The images document the interplay of colour, architecture, materials and decorative detail, revealing the atmosphere and character of the residence.
